As one of Our Recommendations and Recommended Recordings, we recommend Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton, by John Mayall.
This 1966 release was a groundbreaking album. It was the first album to feature Eric Clapton doing lead vocal (on a cover of Robert Johnson’s Ramblin’ On My Mind) as well as the first album to feature Eric Clapton on an all blues album. It also featured covers of Mose Allison’s Parchman Farm and Freddie King’s classics Hideaway. In short, a very influential album that is well worth the attention of blues fans.
There are two releases of this album that we are recommending: the 2001 remaster with extra tracks and the Deluxe Edition.
